ABOUT US
Our Story Begins
…in 1977 in an Italian Ristorante where Terri and I met. She was 15 years old and worked there as a busgirl. I was 18 and just starting out as a cook. We married in 1982 and four years later we opened a small twenty-eight-seat cafe. By 1989 we outgrew the space and moved to our present location on Watson Road. Born and raised on the Hill, our recipes initially were family staples, mostly Sicilian that I learned at my mother’s side… the same way she learned from my Nanna Serafina. Other recipes were added as my experience and confidence grew. Several trips to Italy provided insight to my incredible culinary heritage. The vibrant heritage is represented in every dish we prepare at the Cucina.
My grandparents lived across the street from us where Nonno Vincenzo made his own beer and wine. Unfortunately, his talent was not passed down. However, I did inherit the knowledge that wine is an essential part of the dining experience, and LoRusso’s Wine List demonstrates our interest in your total dining enjoyment.
We cordially invite you to enjoy a cocktail, dinner, a cup of espresso, or one of our many house made desserts in the gracious and warm surroundings that our restaurant provides. It is our consistency, attention to detail, and the dedication of our experienced staff that continue to bring customers back again and again to where they are treated like family. It is their testimonials that keeps LoRusso’s Cucina one of St. Louis’ top restaurants.
